OUR ADOPTED LIFEBOAT.
WILLIAM CANTRELL ASHLEY O.N. 871. A LIVERPOOL class lifeboat, self righting, built by Groves and Gutteridge, lifeboat builders and marine engineers, in 1949 and stationed, when in service with the RNLI, at Clovelly, North Devon, UK.
Will operate and work out of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK.
The aims of the Scarborough Marine Heritage Society.
To renovate, maintain and operate, 'William Cantrell Ashley' in its original seagoing condition and to ensure this very rare class of Lifeboat, an essential part of maritime history, remains available to be enjoyed by enthusiast and supporters of lifeboats and their crews, well into the future. Once lost these Lifeboats can never be replaced.
Thereafter to make 'William Cantrell Ashley' available for Educational Trips, Heritage and Sea Life Conservation, to visit the Seal and Sea Birds Colonies and to promote many other aspects of our heritage, both on land and at sea.
To work with and co-operate with all other Conservation Agencies interested in and dedicated to, the well being of all maritime wildlife.
Join us now and play an active part in this important Preservation, Education and Conservation Project.
Life Members / Family Members / Members and Donators are invited to become very important principals and dedicated participants in promoting the aims of the Society.
If you can say 'Yes' to any of the following then not only is your support welcome, it is essential.
